Maternal OCD was born out of both Maria and Diana understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder during motherhood and wanting to make a difference. As a voluntary organisation, Maternal OCD can operate across the country and is growing a bank of volunteers to ensure the Maternal OCD message can be delivered.
Maternal OCD aims:
1. To raise the profile of OCD amongst health professionals working with mothers to help identify this disorder more efficiently.
We are currently delivering talks to health visitors, midwives and general medical professionals. We are also working towards providing more support for professionals - watch this space!
2. To raise the awareness of OCD for mothers-to-be to reduce the onset probability of OCD developing
We have marketing literature designed to have distributed and are working with local organisations to raise the profile of OCD including delivering talks at support groups.
3. To provide easily accessible resources for mothers with OCD to enable them to recover more quickly
Behind the scenes we are working towards creating resources for mothers - watch this space for further details.
